How we work
Building a Culture of Collaboration
At Shared Vision for the Growing North, Collaboration means different organisations and thought leaders coming together around a shared vision, to create something new through our joint effort. We use collaboration as a problem solving tool, for innovation, and most importantly to create a culture within and between our members that demands a collaborative mindset.
Collaboration relies on openness and knowledge sharing but also some level of focus and accountability.
We believe in sharing and supporting information translation, transfer and network development. We identify, develop and support collaboration opportunities, innovations and best practice. We are a unified voice that informs and influences government and other policy and funding bodies. We are strategically action oriented. We avoid duplication for long term health system and community benefit.
Why we need collaboration
By joining forces we can have a more powerful impact on health outcomes! Collaborative approaches to health service delivery, design and planning can:
- Build capacity of the health sector and the Growing North communities;
- Educate and create awareness of health services and staying well;
- Provide training and technical supports to health and community professionals;
- Build relationships, partnerships, coalitions, networks and other support structures;
- Change practice and inspire innovation; and
- Change policy, laws and funding structures.
Why Equity matters
We are all born with the basic ingredients needed to be healthy. Yet, too many have limitations placed on their health by where they live, how much money they make and by discrimination based on gender, race or ability. To achieve health equity, we need to shift our values and address the barriers to good health so that every person in the Growing North has the opportunity to be healthier.
When everyone has the opportunity to live their healthiest lives, we are better off!
Growing New Ideas
Change can't be achieved without.. well... change! The Shared Vision for the Growing North partnership platform investigates novel approaches within health (locally, nationally and globally), and seeks new relationships and creative thinking that may help our partners accelerate progress towards improving the health and wellbeing of the Growing North.
Good ideas have no borders! Sharing the learnings from successful and promising local and global health innovations, interventions, ideas and best practice is important to us. To improve health, health equity and create a culture of collaboration, we want to spark creativity and innovation through learning from the successes and not so successful accomplishments of others.
Accelerating action and health outcomes in the Growing North requires measuring outcomes, guiding collaborative actions and engaging in creative disruption.
